Accelerating Skills for a Green Future

As countries pursue ambitious nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to confront the climate crisis, the ability of their workforce to adapt and thrive in green and low-carbon sectors is critical. Without qualified workers, the implementation of climate projects and investments in clean technologies risks significant delays, driving up costs and limiting progress toward emissions reduction targets. Shortages of technical and green skills can slow momentum at precisely the moment when rapid action is needed.

EDC supports governments in turning this challenge into opportunity by helping them design and implement strong national action plans that link workforce development with climate strategies. Partnering with ministries, training institutions, and private sector partners, EDC identifies critical skill gaps, integrates green skills into education and training systems, and expands opportunities, especially for marginalized groups. By equipping workers with the skills required for renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, green construction, and other priority sectors, EDC enables countries to advance their NDCs while fostering inclusive, resilient, and equitable green growth.
